Privacy policy
Last updated: May 2026
This policy explains what data The Nook Japan collects and why. We collect as little as possible, and we never sell your data.
Email (the free course)
If you sign up for our email course, your email address (and first name, if given) is stored by our email provider, Kit (ConvertKit), which sends the emails. We use double opt-in: you must confirm via a link before we send anything, so we only email people who explicitly asked. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing deletes you from the active list.
Analytics (no cookies)
We measure traffic with Plausible Analytics, which is privacy-friendly and does not use cookiesor collect personal data — it can't identify you. That's why this site doesn't nag you with a cookie banner: there are no tracking cookies to consent to.
The trip planner
When you use the planner, your request is sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate a suggestion. We log the shapeof the request — your kids' ages, number of days, interests, base and pace — anonymously, to understand what people plan. We do notstore your name, email, or IP address with it, and we can't link a planner log back to you.
Affiliate links
Some outbound links are affiliate links: if you book through them, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. We always disclose these, and you book directly with the provider — we never handle your booking or payment.
Your rights
If you're in the EU/UK, you have the right to access, correct, or delete your data, and to withdraw consent at any time. To unsubscribe, use the link in any email. For anything else — including a data access or deletion request — email us at hello@oyakotrip.com.
This policy is provided in good faith and will be reviewed before launch.
