Hi, I'm the dad behind The Nook Japan

I live in Gunma with my wife — who grew up here — and our two daughters. Everything on The Nook Japan is the version of Japan we actually do as a family: the onsen towns we return to, the easy trails that work with small legs, and the tiny local places you can't find in English anywhere else.

Most travel guides are written for adults, then patched for families. We do it the other way round: every spot is seen through one lens — how it really goes with young kids. The honest notes, the stroller-or-carrier calls, the "skip this, do that instead" — that's the whole point.

We don't book anything for you or take payment. We point you to the right places and the official links, and you arrange the trip yourself. What we offer is the local, family-tested knowledge that's hard to get from the outside.
